SUMMARY:Competition: Nordic BIM Challenge for Students
DESCRIPTION:Nordic BIM Group and Messukeskus Helsinki are launching a brand-new competition at FinnBuild 2026! The competition is open to higher education students in the construction industry across Finland who have completed at least their third year of studies. The application period is open until 31 August 2026. We encourage teams to apply as early as possible to allow plenty of time for preparing the competition entry. \nCompetition Assignment\nThe task is to design a concept for a future-oriented\, low-carbon\, modular and relocatable detached house that can be developed into a real building project. \nThe design work will be carried out using Archicad\, which will be provided free of charge to all selected teams. The goal is to develop a scalable building concept that can adapt and relocate according to the changing life situations of its residents. \nWe are looking for teams of 3–6 students representing the fields of architecture\, structural engineering and building services engineering. A maximum of 8 teams will be selected for the competition. \nWhat Participants Gain\nThe competition offers a unique opportunity to develop practical design and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary BIM environment. The final projects will be showcased at the FinnBuild trade fair. \nAwards\nPrizes will be awarded in four categories\, and all participants will receive diplomas. \n\nBest Architectural Design – €1\,500\nBest Teamwork (multidisciplinary collaboration and BIM integration) – €1\,500\nBest Overall Feasibility (including model content\, structure and lifecycle management) – €3\,000\nAudience Favourite Award (public vote at FinnBuild)\n\nInfo Sessions\nAn introductory session for teachers was held on 13 May 2026. A recording is available upon request. \nThe first information session and competition briefing for participating students will take place on 3 June 2026 from 10:00–11:00.
